Become a diplomat?

I’d have to be not-American though and that would suck.

OR be a diplomat TO another country?

I get that positivity is generally a good thing, but sometimes realism is required.

Ooh I could be a diplomat. Imagine the fancy-ass Paykan (that’s totally exempt from our laws anyway) I’d be able to troll around in!

Then I’d be in not-New York and that would also suck.

More importantly, you’d be able to park in the bus lane, which is mostly what I want the plates for.

Went to the Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty, and spent all of your non-airport time in Manhattan?

Kinja'd!!! random001 > SidewaysOnDirt still misses Bowie

Spent more time trying not to die by being crushed walking down the street than anything else. FTN.

And I spend way too much time dodging tourists who don’t know how to walk, so it’s probably for the best that you stay away.

Just saw one drive by. The bumpers aren’t great but I like these. 390 hp, 7 speed, full time 4wd, tough as nails and CHEAP compared to the competition.

No diplomat plates needed to buy this truck as long as you’re cool with it being badged an Armada.

Not super crazy about the taillights, but I dig it. I wish the US got the base models of trucks like this. 10/10 would DD a base Land Cruiser 200 with barn doors and the 1VD-FTV.

You mean you spend too much time purposefully pushing tourists around while saying stupid things like “tourists, who have been walking for a great many years, obviously don’t know how to walk because they aren’t from here”? Best you stay there, you probably don’t know how to drive.

I and 8 million other people have to get to work. IDGAF about your Chrysler Building photos.

1) Go to work earlier than the tourists. (Really, you don’t already do this?)
2) Realize that your city is universally supported by tourism, quite bitching about the mainstay of your economy, and stop assuming that all tourists are “bad at walking”.
3) Understand that it’s likely a good 50/50 split between locals and tourists gumming up the works, or closer to 80/20 when you are trying to get to work, since people on vacation don’t get up early by and large.
4) Don’t take it out on me. I did not specify that it was locals that were the problem when I mentioned walking was a pain. I very well could be suffering from the exact same issues as you are, and am perfectly capable of walking down the street and not causing an issue.
5) Be excellent to each other.

Sidewalk etiquette is excellence. To me, we’re talking about passing-lane loafers.

I’m defending the very people I have admitted to disliking? How does that work, again?

When I said being crushed, I did not mean I was standing still whilst the flow of “New Yorkers” had to pas around me. Not sure why you are harping on this, other than being a New Yorker by sstereotype I was merely saying that you all try to cram 50 pounds of people into a sidewalk that can fit 10 pounds at most. Too many people. Most of them like you, probably.

With regards to your points though, I’m on 42nd and lex which is like the worst part of midtown because it’s only a few blocks from Times Square (which I avoid going within two blocks of), and across the street from the Chrysler Building and Grand Central. 42nd street fucking sucks. I also need to move to different sites sometimes, so really can’t avoid being out during the day. Tourism is pracitcally nothing to our local economy ($41 billion sounds like alot until you realize that our GDP is in the trillions), and it’s suuuuper easy to spot the difference between a tourist and local just by how they’re looking at things. Not necessarily trying to take it out on you, just the description of avoiding being run down screams of that confused midwestern family who found the narrowest part of the sidewalk to stop in and use their rolling luggage to block any gaps.

I grew up in San Francisco and San Diego, SanFran specifically known for being crowded. Even sight seeing and tourism. Trust me, I get pissed by the same things you do because I have a destination, I’ve mapped the route, and I want to get there. Not dawdle on the side of the sidewalk in everyone’s way. Not cool.
